Hello! I am Sharon Harris Warrick.
Ever since I can remember, I have been a creator of characters.
Over the years, the manifestation and labeling of that ability has evolved: from “imaginary friends” to “a vivid imagination,” and now, finally, plain old creativity.
Whatever you call it, I have relied on it my entire life to help me figure out the world around me, to make sense of other people’s actions and reactions, to nurture empathy and sympathy for my fellow earthlings. I believe stories become our inheritance, shaping what we remember, what we dream about, and whether we ascend or merely move through the levels of life. We need stories to knit together the otherwise staccato events that fill our days, to throw a tarp over them and figure out how they relate.
That is what I do.
I am a playwright and novelist whose passion lives at the crossroads of heart and truth.
My stage plays and fiction explore and ultimately celebrate the beauty and complexity of life, particularly Black American life, with all its laughter, tension, and tenderness.
My work is for anyone who loves a good story told with honesty, rhythm, and a little bit of magic. I hope you enjoy it!
